Scouting America Engineering Merit Badge Program

The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum offers a program to fulfill the requirements of the Scouting America Engineering Merit Badge. This program is interactive from start to finish, featuring a hands-on Build-a-Bike activity, a tour of the world’s largest motorcycle collection, and an engineering design competition. Due to time constraints, some requirements for the badge must be completed before attending this program. Those requirements are outlined below:

Requirements to be completed before attending the program:

If scouts do not bring work to show the completion of these requirements, only a partial badge can be earned by attending this program. Scouts must actively participate in all activities and round table discussions to earn their badge.

Scouts: $25/person

Troop Leaders: Free

Parents/Chaperones: $20/person

All prices listed above do not include sales tax. Access to the museum following the conclusion of the program is included in the price listed above.

Dates & Registration

This program is offered on select Saturdays throughout the year, from 8:30am-12:30pm, and we can accommodate a maximum of 12 scouts per session. All scouts and scout leaders are required to wear their uniform for the program.

Frequently Asked Questions

When are Engineering Merit Badge Programs offered? Merit badge programs are offered on select Saturdays throughout the school year. Our new summer merit badge program will be offered a few times throughout the summer. Dates will be announced soon. 

Does the merit badge program include access to the museum following its conclusion? Yes, self-guided access through the museum is included in the price of the merit badge program for both scouts and adult chaperones.

What is the time frame for the merit badge program? Scouts may arrive at the museum at 8:15am, and the program will begin promptly at 8:30am and end at 12:30pm. 

Can you change the timing of the program? No, the timing of the merit badge program cannot be changed.

Do you provide lunch? No, we do not have food options at the museum. There is a food court with a variety of options located nearby at the Shops of Grand River Outlet Mall. 

How many scouts can participate? Our capacity for the Engineering Merit Badge Program is 12 scouts. 

Can we take photos and/or videos during the program? Yes, photography and videography for private, noncommercial use is permitted. Guests may use cell phones and handheld cameras. Tripods, monopods, selfie sticks, gimbals, camera grips, and light rings are not permitted. Please see our full photography policy at the bottom of the page here.
