About
The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum offers a two-day, immersive, hands-on experience designed to complete all badge requirements of the Scouting America Engineering Merit Badge while exploring the world of engineering through the lens of motorsports. Through engaging activities, scouts will learn and apply the engineering design process, strengthen critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and gain an introduction to computer-aided design and 3D printing technologies and applications. Scouts will also enjoy guided museum tours, connect with real engineers through interviews, and put their skills to the test in an exciting design competition. This dynamic program combines creativity, innovation, and real-world insight to inspire the next generation of engineers.
Pricing
Scouts: $100/person
All prices listed above do not include sales tax. This ticket is good for both days of the two-day Summer Engineering Merit Badge Program. This program is open only to scouts pursuing the engineering merit badge. There are no tickets for troop leaders, parents, chaperones, or other family members.
Dates & Registration
This program is offered on select Mondays & Tuesdays throughout the summer, from 9:00am-4:00pm each day, and we can accommodate a maximum of 12 scouts per session. All participating scouts are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes each day and are required to wear their uniform on the second day of the program.

Frequently Asked Questions
When are the Summer Engineering Merit Badge Programs offered? Summer merit badge programs are offered on select Mondays and Tuesdays throughout June & July. If you’re looking for our school year merit badge program, please click here.
Does the merit badge program include access to the museum following its conclusion? No, but museum guided tours are included as part of the merit badge program.
Do scouts need to bring their own computer or other supplies? No, computers will be provided as part of the program, as well as other materials necessary to complete the requirements.
Can adults or family members walk through the museum while the merit badge program is taking place? Yes, if you wish to tour the museum while waiting for your scout to finish the program, you may purchase a general admission ticket at the front desk when the museum opens at 10am.
What is the time frame for the merit badge program? Scouts may arrive at the museum between 8:30-9:00am, and the program will begin promptly at 9:00am. The program will end at 4:00pm, and scouts must be picked up no later than 4:30pm.
Can you change the timing of the program? No, the timing of the merit badge program cannot be changed.
Do you provide lunch? No, we do not have food options at the museum. Scouts must bring their own lunch each day, but snacks and water will be provided daily.
How many scouts can participate? Our capacity for the Summer Engineering Merit Badge Program is 12 scouts.
Can we take photos and/or videos during the program? Yes, photography and videography for private, noncommercial use are permitted. Scouts may use cell phones and handheld cameras. Tripods, monopods, selfie sticks, gimbals, camera grips, and light rings are not permitted. Please see our full photography policy at the bottom of the page here.
Can we leave and then come back? No, scouts must stay at the museum for the duration of the program each day.
